Our Team

Jim is the Executive Director of the McSheffrey Resource Centre, where he helps guide the Centre’s vision while keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Known for his easygoing nature and flexible leadership style, Jim creates a space where staff, volunteers, and community members feel supported and at ease. He brings a mix of creativity, dedication, and heart to everything he does, from exploring new ideas to securing vital grants that keep programs and services going strong. Jim’s commitment to the Centre’s growth ensures it continues to evolve to meet the needs of the community.

Justin is the Program Lead and Facility Supervisor at the McSheffrey Resource Centre. He plays a key role in supporting youth programs, working closely with the afterschool program, youth group, and summer camp. Whether he’s leading a game in the gym or fixing something around the building, Justin brings energy, reliability, and warmth to everything he does. The kids love playing sports with him, and he’s a strong role model for youth in the community. He is also known for his classic breakfast kettle meal, often shared with a smile, and for always being the go to guy when something needs fixing.

Liz is the heart of the McSheffrey Resource Centre’s outreach and special events. Whether she is cooking up a delicious meal in the kitchen, planning a community celebration, or supporting community members, Liz is always ready to lend a helping hand. She plays an active role in the after-school program, afternoon tea gatherings, and senior summer outings, creating welcoming spaces for all ages. From Christmas parties to Eid celebrations, Liz ensures every event at the Centre is inclusive, joyful, and meaningful. In her outreach role, Liz is here to support community members. If you need anything, from basic essentials to helpful connections, she will do her best to find a way to help.

Benjamin is a passionate and dependable member of the team at the McSheffrey Resource Centre, where he supports Newcomer Services and Programming. He assists newcomers by offering guidance, resources, and a welcoming space to help them settle into the community. Benjamin also leads the Youth Leadership Program, where he supports young people in building confidence, developing leadership skills, and planning for their futures. His goal is to create a positive and inclusive environment where everyone feels supported and encouraged. His office is always a safe and welcoming space for anyone who needs support or someone to talk to.

Chantal is a welcoming and compassionate member of the team at the McSheffrey Resource Centre, where she supports Newcomer Services and Programming. She assists newcomers with drop-in support such as filling out forms, making phone calls, accessing referrals, and navigating systems. Her goal is to help individuals feel more confident and connected as they adjust to life in a new country. Chantal also leads programs that focus on conversational English, building social connections, and exploring the community to foster a strong sense of belonging. Whether you are settling into a new place or simply looking for a supportive environment, Chantal is always happy to help.

Annie is a welcoming and caring member of the team at the McSheffrey Resource Centre, where she works as our Education Coordinator. She provides personalized academic support and alternative learning options for students who face challenges staying engaged with traditional schooling. Through one-on-one guidance, tailored learning plans, and ongoing encouragement, Annie helps students build confidence, develop their skills, and stay connected to their education. She is dedicated to helping each student succeed and reach their goals, while advocating for both students and parents to ensure they feel supported every step of the way.

Pennie is a dedicated and experienced Family Support Worker with the Community Centre Alliance. She is at McSheffrey on Wednesdays and Thursdays, offering support to individuals and families who may be facing challenges. Pennie can help you connect with services, advocate on your behalf, and support communication with agencies. She is always ready to listen and help you navigate whatever comes your way.

Sophia is one of the friendly faces behind our youth programs at the McSheffrey Resource Centre. She works closely with kids in our afterschool program and summer camp, bringing energy, care, and lots of fun to everything she does. You will often find her in the gym leading activities or hitting the court for some basketball. She loves staying active and connecting with the kids through play. Her positive spirit helps make the Centre a great place for kids to learn, grow, and just be themselves.

Desiree is a fun-loving and kind-hearted presence at the McSheffrey Resource Centre, where she works as our Community Employment Facilitator through the Community Centre Alliance. She brings warmth and positivity to her role, supporting individuals in finding meaningful employment and pursuing their educational goals through one-on-one coaching, resume and interview preparation, job search assistance, and guidance for those returning to school.
