Our History
The McSheffrey Resource Centre was renamed in honour of the late Brother Jim McSheffrey, whose work in the Brophy Place area spanned more than 20 years. Brother Jim had a profound and lasting impact on the individuals and families he served and was instrumental in the development of many of the programs and services that continue to support the community today. He dedicated his life to helping others, working quietly and unassumingly while building the strong foundation upon which the McSheffrey Resource Centre and the surrounding community now stand.
Our Philosophy
The McSheffrey Resource Centre is built on a foundation of community pride and encourages residents to take an active role in planning, governing, administering, and evaluating programs and activities. This engagement is essential for fostering community development and long-term sustainability. Through the Centre’s programs, community members have opportunities to participate in meaningful work, volunteer, and mentoring roles at the grassroots level, helping to strengthen both individual and community growth.
The McSheffrey Resource Centre is committed to providing all community members with access and equal opportunities to participate in social, health, recreational, and educational programs and services.
